On the screen of an Omron blood pressure monitor, the following values are displayed:

 

  • SYS: This stands for systolic blood pressure, also known as the upper blood pressure. It is the pressure in the arteries when the heart contracts.
  • DIA: This stands for diastolic blood pressure, also known as the lower blood pressure. It is the pressure in the arteries when the heart is at rest between two beats.
  • PULSE: This indicates the heart rate, the number of times your heart beats per minute.

iHealth Blood Pressure Monitor

On the screen of an iHealth blood pressure monitor, these values are displayed:

  • SYSTOLIC: This is the systolic blood pressure, also known as the upper blood pressure, and it indicates how much pressure the blood exerts against the artery walls during heartbeats.
  • DIASTOLIC: This stands for diastolic blood pressure, also known as the lower blood pressure. It is the pressure in the arteries when the heart is at rest between two beats.
